The South African data analytics environment is gaining momentum but companies are still faced with a number of challenges to truly weave data analytics into the fabric of their organisations.

When asked about where the majority of South African companies are in their data journey, Craig Steward, Managing Director: EMEA for Corinium Global Intelligence said “Our research has shown that most data & analytics professionals are acutely aware of the need to institute strong data governance frameworks and insight-led decisioning in their businesses but only about 47% feel they have the support and buy-in from the board or the relevant C-level executive.

Other major obstacles cited include: poor data quality or the perception that data quality is poor, a siloed approach to data ownership, a lack of trust in analytics especially in big data analytics and low levels of acceptance or understanding of the power of data analytics across the business.

Corinium hosts Chief Data & Analytics Officer Africa 2017 at The Maslow in Sandton from 3 to 5 July where South Africa’s data analytics community will meet to develop strategies to overcome these challenges.

Top leaders from the African market will present their case studies

The event has an unmatched line-up of speakers including: Pieter Vorster, Chief Data Officer, Barclays Africa Group, PJ Bezuidenhout, Chief Data Officer, Wesbank, Raymond Mahlangu, Group Chief Data Officer, Alexander Forbes, Igor Swanepoel, Chief Data Officer, Sasfin Bank, Lee Naik, Chief Executive Officer, Transunion, Nvalaye Kourouma, Chief Digital Officer - PBB, Barclays and Mike Wright, Chief Digital Officer, Ashburton Investments to name a few.

Through case studies and in-depth discussion groups attendees will have the opportunity to benchmark their data & analytics practices against their peers. They will also gain invaluable insight into how others have overcome the general challenges to high-level strategic initiatives.

Along with two main conference days, Chief Data & Analytics Officer Africa 2017 will feature two pre-conference focus days - Data Foundations Focus Day and The Art of Storytelling plus four dinner workshops that will cover key topic areas in a relaxed environment.
