This two-day marine cargo course has been prepared completely in line with SAQA Unit Standards 117655, 120009, 120013 and 120020 and the skill set has been fully accredited through the Transport Education and Training Authority SETA (TETA) (17 credits).
On the first day we look at the origins of marine insurance plus the points which need to be looked at when insuring cargo. How do marine insurance and the Incoterms rules relate to each other?
On the second day we deal with that all-important aspect of any insurance which is claims, discussing the four questions which need to be asked when handling any claim:
- Does the policy cover the Risk
- Was the accident during the currency of Cover
- What caused the loss
- Extent of loss
Thereafter we look at recoveries from liable carriers which is a vital aspect of claims as it assists in the reducing of claim statistics, and finally a basic introduction in General Average and Salvage Awards. The General Average and Salvage award section has been approved by London Average adjusters.
The delegates can receive 12 CPD hours from the IISA upon request.
